tête-à-tête avec mon âme

Yesterday.
Hey it happens.
stress, frustration, blah. build up, build up, explosion.
Maybe we shouldn't talk about it.
It was just one of those days.
My mom is always so patient and understanding. I am so grateful for her.
Always caring, always listening, always loving.
I was worried it would happen again today.
Thankfully it was better.

Last night, afterward . . . I was reminded of something. Even though it was late, I searched though my drawers to find it. It is from someone who is thousands of miles away preaching the truth to the world. It was this: a short Patrickism and a poem. Remember that one time after freshman year when we all bawled our eyes out? Remember that bond of friendship and mutual understanding?

What are we?
Are we not as waves—
Cast upon the shore,
longing for depth,
wishing to be bustled amongst other waves—

For what are we but the waves that surround us—
like this we are to our friends.
For—A person defined cannot be alone—
but it is our friends that do make us up-
For better or for worse.

Never is a wave alone
alone it is dead water
Never is a person alone
alone it is without definition.

Kendra—if I could leave one thing with you—I would tell you that you are never alone. Even when friends are miles away, or, heck, even if you end up like Tom hanks on Cast Away—God will always walk with you, and He will always be your definition. Friends will define you—and so having the only perfect being as a friend will definitely help make that definition clear, pure, and permanent.

~Patrick {Hotel} O'Connell

I am a wave. Sometimes I feel like dead water just yearning for depth, wanting to be bustled amongst other waves. Simply a wave, thankful to be in existence. Thankful for the one perfect being who makes my path, my definition clear.
My best friend.

Thanks patty boy for writing that. I needed to hear it.

what i like about a spring saturday

starting the day with turbo sculpt and a glorious bike ride
eating fresh fruit
listening to the birds chirping
feeling the warmth of the sun
smelling the sweet blossoms
hearing laughter and joy outside
watching love budding ;)

hope for the future

a few thoughts from today:

Proctoring in the 'IS' is kind of like riding the bus because you meet all sorts of characters and individuals. Par example, I saw the following today:

*That married man who I thought kept staring at me, but really he just kept looking my direction every two minutes whenever he was thinking deeply.
*That cool Tongan kid taking his HS English final. He was in there a long time and he looked pretty stressed out. English obviously isn't his cup of tea. {heh. tea. english. get it?}
*That 15 year old kid taking his HS French final. I wanted to help him out a bit. Things didn't look like they were going that well. :[]
*Haha! That kid wearing white ankle socks with flip flops. No joke.
*A sweet 50 year old lady taking her history test for five hours total!! And then talking to her afterward about how much she hated that exam.

But the best parts of the day?
Making new friends at work. Walking outside on my lunch break just listening to sounds of the outside. Watching five little ducklings lose sight of their mother and then find their way again by listening to the sound of her voice. Walking home in the rain without an umbrella, smelling the wet pavement. Glorious. Possibly seeing my future husband when I turned the corner and walked into the Enclave? {Here's to hoping}

j'ai la peau en porcelaine, ou donc mes amies me disent

Things have been a little crazy lately, so my blog has been put on the bottom of my list of things to do.

I am so lucky because I have the best family EVER! They came to visit for Casey's graduation this past weekend {you can see a better update of that on my sisters blog}. We are always looking for the best burger and these ones from "Five Guys" were absolutely delicious!

It's earth day!!

How coincidental that I made sure to bring my camera today so after work I could take some pictures of those lovely blossoms and magnolias {the ones I blogged about yesterday} by the moa?!

Happy Earth day!

{Aren't they glorious?! They smelled delicious as well. I highly recommend taking a stroll over there}

{Also, Munir just directed me to this. I liked it. I have been out of the music loop for a while.}

rêver de toi

Whenever it rains I want to listen to chill music and that means Jason Mraz {but I usually always want to listen to him. heh}. Classes ended today so I should be studying for finals, but instead I am just relaxing to the sounds of Jason. Keep it up Jason.

It's kind of sad when old friendships die due to change, neglect, being busy, or whatever it may be. I went to a double bridal shower tonight for my old roommate {what's with it being the season of engagement!?!??! Geez. But that is another story}. I saw the girls that I used to hang out with. We had some fun times back then and they were all great friends of mine. It was nice to catch up with them. It's just interesting because our lives just keep going even though we part ways. We are all growing, changing, learning. I feel like I know those girls, but not really. I can't really describe it. It was just an interesting dynamic.

So right now I am just ready for a change.

{pic found here. I highly suggest checking it out. I want those swimsuits}
