I have homework, but I am on blogger . . .

I wasn't planning on blogging today. I have way to many things to be doing, but alas! Here I am. I couldn't not share this preciousness.

So here is another installment from Capucine {remember this}. Lovely. Enjoy!

le défilé de mode

Today we had a fashion show in french. AMAZING! I was seriously looking forward to it all day, no lie. I contemplated what I would wear all night and all the next morning I was putting together all sorts of outfits in my mind. We had partners and we had to describe what they were wearing, so I would make up french sentences about what I should say. I even practiced the catwalk, yep that's how hardcore I am. I am a loser.

Anyway, it was great. I even got to do my catwalk. woo woo! Everyone was having so much fun with it. Also it was pretty sweet because my class voted me the most chic, which means I got a snickers bar. Too bad I wasn't voted most creative (the first prize) because then I would have received a sweet french club shirt. Oh and this picture is pretty much how I looked . . . or at least how I wish I had looked. Ah, it was great nonetheless.

Then with five minutes left in class Monsieur Dennis started talking in English!! Crazy, but only because he had to. He explained to us about careers in french and how we should continue taking french classes, etc. It was pretty sweet and I got some good information. Also I found out that Monsieur Dennis--who is also a student--is double majoring in French and Math while also teaching a french class! Really random and kind of crazy. He's a really good teacher and I'm glad I was lucky enough to get him. He really focuses on speaking, which is exactly what I need improving on. (I think he does that because he served a mission in France and he knows first-hand that speaking is the best way to learn.) Also he somehow always knows when I don't know the answer or when I need to get better at something (meaning practically everything) because he ALWAYS calls on me at those times.

Anyway it's good for me.

dandelion wishes . . .

I wish I had something cool to blog about like all my friends do.
I wish I could be more philosophical and articulate.
I wish I wasn't so timid when I first meet people.
I wish I could stand up for myself more often.
I wish I knew my major.
I wish I didn't have to take midterms.
I wish I was a better test taker.
I wish I didn't get so distracted while doing my homework and studying.
I wish I was fluent in french already.
I wish I wasn't so scared of making mistakes.
(I hope my oral exam goes well tomorrow.)
I wish that dream of mine could become a reality . . .
I wish I could come home to a real dinner every night.
I wish the good foods that I like to eat weren't so expensive, like fish for instance.
I wish I could talk with my sister (on the mish) for at least an hour, just to talk.
I wish it was thanksgiving already so I could be with the fam.
I wish I could give charlie a little cuddle.
I wish BYU had longer vacations and that they were more frequent.
I wish Colorado wasn't an 8 hour drive away.
I wish I could read the future, most especially mine.
I wish I had more time to read the books that I like.
I wish I could relive one day from my childhood.
I wish I could have a wishbone marathon. You know, the "little dog with a big imagination!"
I wish I could travel.
I wish change didn't happen so frequently.

I wish wishes came true.

Vive la France!

Q'est-ce que vous aimez faire? Apprenez français? Mais oui!

Augh! Well today my french class was extremely hard! There are probably three different categories of how I could feel in my french class:

1. C'est parfait! The day was FANTASTIC!!! Woo woo! I understood my teacher and respond back to him in a quick manner, with correct grammar mind you. I was never nervous or embarrassed when he called on me unexpectedly to answer a question. I knew all the vocab and verb conjugations. And I actually, of my own accord, participated! (note that this happens very seldom). Class just seemed to whiz by and I most likely did not want class to end because I was doing so amazing and I wanted to keep on being amazing!

2. Comme ci comme ça. It was just a blah kind of day. I knew probably only half of the material. I understood half of Monsieur Dennis' questions and therefore answered only half of them . . . the others? Je ne sais pas.

3. J'en ai marre! The worst day EVER! The material we are covering is so abstract and the explanation . . . all in french of course, so I don't understand it! Je ne comprends pas! AAAaaa!!! I keep checking the clock . . . only 20 minutes have gone by?! Longest class ever! I avoid eye contact with Monsieur Dennis at all costs, which probably hints to him that I have no idea what I am doing. Therefore he calls on me anyway despite seeing me squirm in my seat, most likely to give me more practice, but come on man! To make matters worse, it seems like everyone else in the class is so on top of it, they know what's going on and I am the only one who is clueless. I feel like a loser.

So today was most likely the latter. After class I had serious doubts about my major, which isn't even my official major yet! but then . . .

I went to see "Les Chorus" at the international cinema. I've seen it before, loved it to death, and wanted to see it again. Well I teared up again at the end when Pépinot finally goes home with 'son père à le samedi!' Ahh! C'est génial! After hearing natives speak french, I get really jealous and mad at myself for being such a slacker. So I get a surge of conviction, a determination to study more and do better! That doesn't mean it's going to be easy. Learning another language is hard. It doesn't come as easily as I would hope. But . . . I will persevere!

C'est la vie!
