my new favorite thing

warning: this blog post is recommended for starving college students who are on a tight budget. Also, sorry for my boring blogging lately--I have been in the process of moving and adjusting.

I love learning! I love school {when it's not stressing me out}! It's a time to start afresh. That's why I love the new school year. We have so many things to look forward to and so many new things to learn {and for some reason it seems most apparent this year. hmmm}. How exciting!

But along with a new school year comes new expenses, which I don't love. I think others can relate.

Every year, I find my way to the bookstore to buy another set of monstorous books galore, {which put a nice dent in checking account} half of which I end up not even using! Well this year, due in part to the new layout among other reasons, I decided that I will not stand for these expensive books anymore!!

So boycotting the bookstore, I have been buying all my books used trying to avoid spending money at all costs!

Amazon, Half.com, etc. etc.

but my all time fav? . . .

this

is glorious! and my new favorite thing.

Check it out and love it.

I have spent $145.10 on all my books. I saved over half of the total money I would have spent at the bookstore!

I still had to buy a few books at the actual bookstore, but hey, that was bound to happen, right?
I love being thrifty! That being said, I am headed to DI and Savers later for some back to school shopping. Can't wait!

"when will my pants be ready?"

ok, STOP IT!!!

*disclaimer: I did not expect this post to be so long and wordy. You are under no obligation to read it all. It is merely for my own pleasure. Thank you.

Today I picked up my little sis from her last day of her sophomore year {she's a junior now, what?!}. Then we made our way to 'ARC' a new thrift store. Fabulous. I was only planning on being there for about an hour, but how can you resist the sweet finds and the low prices?! We were there for about 2 1/2 hours. I even had lunch late people! I wasn't messing around.

Oh I don't have words for how excited I am about this little number:

As many of you know {or don't know because I try to keep it on the DL}, I dislike swimming immensely. The blindingly white skin {mine}, the uncomfortable swimwear, the wet curly hair that turns into frizzes uncontrollable, pounds of sunscreen lathering {I burn easily. very easily}, the insecurities galore, and at the 'clave? everyone can watch you {creepily or not}--all reasons that I try to avoid the pool area as much as possible. So far, I've been pretty successful in my endeavors.

Despite my displeasure in such diversions, my search for the one perfect swimming suit has not stopped. I have come to realize that if I want one that I will like and feel comfortable in, I will have to fork over a hundred bucks or more. Also, it wouldn't be worth it for the amount of time I spend in the pool {close to nothing}. So, do I look like I am made of money?! Hello, I was shopping at thrift store for goodness sake! So my hopes weren't that high shopping at ARC. But then, lo and behold to my greatest hopes, my mother spotted this little treasure! {she joined us later and boy am I thankful!} A vintage swimming suit for, get this, FIVE BUCKS!

STOP IT.

I'm sure you've heard of my love for vintage anything {and I've been wanting a vintage swimsuit for a while now. Evidence of me wanting a vintage suit see here and here, because you need evidence}, so what a great find! and to top it all off when I wear it, I don't feel like I am going to fall out with any slight movement. Just a few sewing adjustments with my mother's help and it will be perfect!

This day is monumental.
Maybe it will motivate me to go swimming more.

love
